Here’s an easy way to change your pillowcase every night for clearer skin and to reduce acne. Put 7 pillowcases on your pillow once a week, one on top of the other, then just remove one every day, and voila! Fresh, clean pillowcase daily. I can’t remember or find the source for this helpful little life tip, but it is a really good one.
Here’s why: When you sleep on your pillowcase it rubs against your face, picking up dirt, oil and sloughed off skin (see Exfoliating Part 1 for an explanation of why this is totally normal). If your routine doesn’t include a wash before bed, this is also when your face is at its dirtiest. Even if you do wash your face, your hair is also rubbing on your pillowcase and dropping off oils and dirt of its own. So the more often you change your pillowcase the better! Makes sense right? Sure, and once a week is ok but changing your pillowcase every day would be the ideal. But let’s be honest, that’s kind of a hassle, and even if you are squeezing in a good face cleansing before bed, now you have to change linens too? Sounds good in theory but it might not actually happen..
So here comes today’s little tip to save the day. Load your pillow up with 7 days worth of pillowcases once a week, then just peel one off before bed nightly. Use natural fiber pillowcases to be even more skin friendly, like cotton or luxurious silk.
